Another 100 Weld Street Public Meeting 10/05
The BRA has scheduled another public meeting on the 100 Weld Street proposal (former Weld American gas station site).
Monday, Oct. 5th, 6:30 pm at the Roche Community Center, 1716 Centre Street in West Roxbury.
The proponent is expected to present a revised proposal based on public comments and community feedback submitted to the BRA.
Please note the location change from prior meetings, this is at the Roche Center and NOT at the police station.
100 Weld Street Development Update
BRA project manager Chris Tracy sent the following message yesterday regarding the 100 Weld St development proposal:
Hello All,
Thank you for your participation in the BRA process on the proposal at 100 Weld St thus far. I am writing to notify you that this proposal will not be presented at the BRA Board of Directors meeting this Thursday (9/17).
Based on the dialogue at our public meeting on August 27 and the public comments received by the BRA we have asked the proponent to consider this feedback and respond accordingly. In particular, the BRA has heard from the community that the size and massing of the proposal is too large, therefore, we’ve asked the proponent to reconsider the size and massing of the building.
I will be in touch when next steps are determined, if you have any questions in the meantime please don’t hesitate to ask. The link below can provide you with all of the project information.
Best,
-Chris

Community Meeting – 100 Weld Street (Weld American) – Thurs, 08/27
The Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) has announced a community meeting for the proposal at 100 Weld Street, the old Weld American property at the corner of Weld and Centre Street.
When: Thursday, August 27, 2015, 6:30 pm
Where: Area E-5 Boston Police Station, 1708 Centre St., West Roxbury
The proponent Horizon Development LLC has officially filed the proposal with the BRA. The proposal calls for a 4-story, building comprised of 17 residential condominium units. The condominiums will be on floors 2-4. The first floor of the building will have enclosed parking, a multi-purpose room for residents, and storage space. The building will have 29 parking spots – 18 enclosed on the first floor and an additional 11 spaces outside the building on site. This proposal is what was presented at the previously-held second community meeting with some modifications.
The official BRA period for Article 80 Small Project review public comment has begun and will run until Thursday, September 10th. Comments on the proposal must be submitted by that date to Christoper Tracy, Project Manager, Boston Redevelopment Authority, 1 City Hall Square, Boston, MA 02201 or via email at christopher.tracy@boston.gov. Mr. Tracy may also be reached at 617-918-4259. The BRA has stated they understand the end of August is not an ideal time for public meetings but they are bound to host a community meeting within thirty days of project submission. It remains possible the date for public comment will be extended, but please get your comments in by Sept. 10th just in case.
Please note that the city has determined that this project meets all zoning code requirements for the site and is not requiring the proponents to seek any zoning relief or variances from the Zoning Board of Appeals.
The proposal (pdf) may be viewed here. More information can also be found on the BRA’s website on the project.
Traffic Light at Walworth/South/Congreve St
Update: the new fixture being installed at the Walworth/South/Congreve St intersection next to Fallon Field is going to be a traffic light. The contractor is supposed to clean up the debris left there asap after some residents rightfully complained. There have been some issues with the ledge in that spot, so construction and installation is expected to finish by the end of August. Thanks to BTD and Councilor Matt O’Malley’s office for the update.
