LANA Bi-monthly Board meeting – Monday, November 9, 2020 at 7 pm.
LANA will be holding its bi-monthly board meeting on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 7 pm. This will be a virtual meeting on Zoom. We are asking people to register via Eventbrite. You will then be emailed the Zoom link in late afternoon a couple hours before the meeting. We are asking people to pre-register so that we can avoid Zoom bombers. All are welcomed to attend.
Highlights of the November LANA Board meeting include:
- State Representative Nika Elugardo will be joining us to update us on legislative issues.
- Beacon Academy who recently acquired 814 South Street will be introducing themselves to LANA and the neighborhood.
- Brief discussion on a resident’s requested zoning variance at 1504 Centre to enable interior improvements.
- Update on the future of 104-108 Walter Street for affordable home ownership and protection of Roslindale Wetlands.

DCR Centre Street Meeting Nov. 10
State Senator Mike Rush and State Representatives Ed Coppinger and Jeffrey Sanchez in conjunction with the state Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) are hosting a community meeting specific for Roslindale residents about the proposed DCR plans for the Centre Street corridor from VFW Parkway to Murray Circle, and in particular the Walter/Centre intersection.

DCR has previously held three meetings on proposals for this stretch of Centre Street, in addition to the Arborway in Jamaica Plain. You can view the presentations from past meetings here. The meeting and presentation materials specific to the Centre Street corridor and Walter Street intersection can be found there under the Oct. 7, 2015 meeting information.
LANA has advocated for years for changes to this intersection and had members present at the prior meetings. In addition to this Nov. 10 meeting, at our normal bimonthly LANA meeting the night prior, Monday, Nov. 9, 7:30 pm at Longfellow House, we’ll be joined by Sen. Rush and Reps. Coppinger and Sanchez to go over these plans and discuss issues around them along with other relevant state issues. We hope you can join us.

The next LANA meeting is coming up in a week.
Monday, Nov 9th, 7:30 pm at the Longfellow House, 885 South Street, Roslindale.
We will be joined by Senator Mike Rush and Representative Jeffrey Sanchez to update the neighborhood on DCR plans for the Centre Street corridor from VFW Parkway to Murray Circle and the Emerald Necklace beyond, along with other happenings and updates.
LANA will also hold a special election to fill vacant board seats.
All meetings are open to the public and we hope to see you there!
Age-Friendly Boston Roslindale Listening Session 09/17
The City of Boston’s initiative Age-Friendly Boston is hosting a listening session in Roslindale on Thursday, Sept 17th from 5:30-7 pm at the Roslindale Branch Library. Residents are invited to provide feedback and input.
Age-Friendly Boston is a project that challenges the city’s public agencies, businesses, cultural, educational, and religious institutions and community groups to consider how changes to policy and practice can enhance the quality of life for residents as we age.

2nd Community Meeting re: 1400 Centre Street on 04/22
A second community meeting will be held on the 1400 Centre Street proposed condo units (old Weld America station at corner of Weld & Centre Streets).
When: Wednesday, April 22, 2015
Time: 6:15 pm
Where: Boston Police District E-5 Community Room, 1705 Centre St, West Roxbury
Two proposals were presented last night: one for 18 units and one for 22 units. Both will have one commercial unit at ground level according to those plans. The commercial unit is intended for some type of office use and not restaurant or retail, according to the developers.

Community Meeting re: Proposed Development at 1400 Centre St, Roslindale
The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services invites neighborhood residents to a community meeting to discuss a proposal to construct a mixed-use, four-story, market-rate residential condominium building comprised of 18-dwelling units and one commercial unit at 1400 Centre Street, Roslindale, MA 02131 (the old Weld American parcel at the corner of Centre and Weld Streets).
The proposal will be subject to Small Project Review by the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA). No plans have been officially filed at this time.

Final Design Proposal Meeting Fallon Field Playground – TONIGHT!
The City of Boston Parks Department is hosting its final meeting this evening to present the final design proposals for the Fallon Field Playground and to seek community input.
