It’s Love Your Block Saturday, Tomorrow, Sept 17 – Love the Pocket Park! And the Wetlands!

The Pocket Park at South and Walter Street needs some lovin’ this Saturday, as part of Mayor Wu’s city-wide Love Your Block.  We will be working from 10 am to 12 noon to pick up, weed, plant and spruce up the pocket park and vicinity on Saturday morning from 10 am to 12 noon.   Plant donations are welcome.  Come join in. All are welcome.

In concert with the city’s Love Your Block campaign and LANA, the Roslindale Wetlands Task Force is holding a Love Your Wetlands clean-up this Saturday, September 17, from 9:00 to noon.

Meet us at the Coniston Road entrance to the Wetlands, where we will focus on removing some of the invasive plants that have dominated the area (Japanese knotweed, multiflora rose) to give new plantings the best chance of becoming established. Soon, the Coniston Road entrance will be an attractive meadow with a landscaped path. Our work will help set the stage for ecological restoration work in this area.

We’ll have a few tools available to borrow, but if you have clippers, loppers, or other implements, please bring them along. Gloves are a great idea too, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. We strongly recommend wearing long pants and long sleeves to guard against ticks.

If you can’t make it at 9:00, come when you can, and stay as long as you can!  We will be working until noon time.
